Dush, Smith Confirm Nearly $1.1 Million for Jefferson County Equipment Replacement and Infrastructure Upgrade Projects

BROOKVILLE — Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) and Rep. Brian Smith (R-66) today announced nearly $1.1 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for seven projects serving Jefferson County communities.

“These grants are important investments in the public safety and quality of life for residents of all ages,” said Dush. “Securing this highly competitive funding is a huge win for even more taxpayers, motorists, volunteer first responders and local governments who will not have to bear the economic burden for $1.1 million in critical maintenance equipment and various infrastructure upgrades.”

“I’m proud to partner with Sen. Dush to bring this funding back to the district,” Smith said. “Upgrading municipal equipment and keeping our roads in good shape aren’t short-term investments. We will feel the benefits of these projects for years to come.”

Specific LSA grant recipients include:

• Brockway Area Sewage Authority — $39,900 — to purchase a fully equipped Kubato Tractor to complete operations such as transporting heaving loads and regular maintenance in a timelier manner.
• Eldred Township — $153,380 — to purchase a new backhoe to replace the current model that is over 30 years old and experiencing a plethora of maintenance problems. A new backhoe will help ensure road crew safety when loading trucks for winter maintenance and working roads and ditches.
• Falls Creek Borough — $138,000 — to repair and pave roadway along 4th Street. The existing pavement is in poor condition with patches, fractured areas, and several areas that have been identified to have failing subgrade by PennDOT.
• Falls Creek Borough Municipal Authority — $80,500 — to install a new, fully-functional generator at water treatment facility.
• Reynoldsville Borough — $89,880 — to replace deteriorated dump truck with a safe, reliable vehicle that can support essential operations for snow removal, stormwater maintenance and hauling materials. The purchase of a new truck will restore reliable completion of these tasks.
• Rose Township — $275,800 — to pave Stahlman Road which would end costly patching and repairing several times a year, and free up funding for all other township roads.
• Warsaw Township — $322,000 — to purchase a new motor grader to breakup ice on roads in the winter and reduce repair down time and operating costs for essential road services.
Local Share Account funds are generated under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 71 of 2004), which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the CFA support projects in the public interest across Pennsylvania. The CFA is an independent agency and administers Pennsylvania economic development programs and investments.
