Smith: PENNVEST Awards More Than $284 Million for Water, Sewer Projects in Pennsylvania

April 15, 2026

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Brian Smith (R-Jefferson/Indiana), the House Republican appointee to the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) board, announced the investment of $284.2 million into 19 drinking water and wastewater projects throughout the Commonwealth.

Projects include the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Bedford County, an ultraviolet system replacement in Fayette County and sewer infrastructure renovations in Somerset County.

“This investment strengthens the health, resilience and future of communities across our state, ensuring that every resident has access to safe, reliable infrastructure,” Smith said. “We look forward to delivering projects that honor this commitment and create lasting benefits for generations to come.”

“The approvals for these water quality infrastructure projects are an important component of PENNVEST support for clean water in Pennsylvania,” said Executive Director Robert Boos. “The funding provided by PENNVEST delivers the financial backing necessary for communities to make improvements that ensure potable drinking water, adequate wastewater treatment, and stormwater management facilities to improve and strengthen a community’s quality of life.”

PENNVEST, established in 1988, funds the design and construction of drinking water, wastewater and storm water projects across Pennsylvania.
